The aim of the article is, firstly, to show the value of Adam Smith’s work on human nature in The Theory of Moral Sentiments for economics; secondly, in this article I want to point out that Smith’s ideas on human nature are still relevant nowadays. In order to do this, I explain the subprime crisis by means of Smith’s theory on human nature. This interpretation reveals many similarities between Smith’s thought and the discoveries of behavioral economics and shows the potential of his theory in consistently explaining the crisis.

Abstract
The aim of the article is, firstly, to show the value of Adam Smith’s work on human nature in The Theory of Moral Sentiments for economics; secondly, in this article I want to point out that Smith’s ideas on human nature are still relevant nowadays. In order to do this, I explain the subprime crisis by means of Smith’s theory on human nature. This interpretation reveals many similarities between Smith’s thought and the discoveries of behavioral economics and shows the potential of his theory in consistently explaining the crisis.File in questo prodotto:
