Tra popolo e Stato. Congetture per una grammatica del presente

By recalling the mutual, typically modern, implication between the people and the State and the obvious difficulty of reproducing it at the contemporary level, the essay focuses on a twofold attempt. On the one hand, it seeks to make explicit an inherent tension of "people"’s concept, by examining the dialectic between "ethnos" and "demos". On the other hand, it is proposed to bring out another tension – now related to the resumption of the "State"’s concept at the global level – that the dialectic between "cosmos" and "polis" already contained in itself. Moving towards the contemporary age, the outcome of this twofold analysis seems to be able to constituting the trace of a possible theory and practice of an “unfinished narrative” among different identities (individual and group), which is aimed at opening a renewed semantic space for the concept of people. Richiamando l’implicazione reciproca tra popolo e Stato tipica della modernità e la evidente tensione che ne presiede ogni tentativo di riproposizione sullo scenario contemporaneo, il saggio si sofferma su un tentativo duplice. Da una parte, esso cerca di rendere esplicita la tensione che anima il concetto di "popolo", esaminando la dialettica tra "ethnos" e "demos". Dall’altra, si propone di fare emergere un’analoga tensione, questa volta interna alla ripresa del concetto di "Stato" in prospettiva globale, che la dialettica tra "cosmos" e "polis" già conteneva in sé. Spostandosi all’oggi, l’esito che da tale duplice disamina sembra potersi ricavare costituisce la traccia di una possibile teoria e prassi della “narrazione incompiuta” tra differenti identità, individuali e di gruppo, che viene proposta con l’obiettivo di aprire un rinnovato spazio semantico per la nozione di popolo.
